This time, there was no controversy to be had: Indiana Gov. Mike Pence thoroughly and completely humiliated Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine in Tuesday’s vice presidential debate.
Kaine, the sad Democrat functionary picked by the Clinton campaign because of the felicitous nature of his geography and absolutely nothing else, constantly interrupted Pence and yet said nothing of substance during the verbal intrusions. He also managed to come across as a creepier version of Jack Nicholson’s Joker who constantly committed the liberal sin of “mansplaining” … only to another man.
Pence, meanwhile, hit a number of home runs, but none went further out of a park than his statement on Syrian refugees.
When talking about Obama’s decision to let in virtually unlimited numbers of Syrian refugees with almost no vetting, Pence was unequivocal about what they would do: “Donald Trump and I are committed to suspending the Syrian refugee program.”
Finally. A politician who’s willing to say what Trump has been saying all along.
The Syrian refugee program allows barely vetted individuals into our country from an area known for heavy terrorist activity. The idea that this will somehow not cause a problem for the United States is a liberal fantasy with absolutely no basis in reality.
I’m sure most conservatives wouldn’t have a problem with admitting Syrian refugees — provided that the number was closely controlled and the criminal backgrounds (or lack thereof) of the refugees could be ascertained.
As it currently stands, the way the Obama administration has set this up has made this impossible. Therefore, the best option — the only real option — is to shut it down until verification and vetting can be done.
Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton won’t do that. Donald Trump and Mike Pence will. The choice, if one cares about our national security, is very clear.
