The Russian Defense Ministry has issued a warning on Thursday morning to the United States. They claim they will shoot down any American planes if Obama launches his bombing campaign in Syria. Just days before, Moscow has deployed additional S-300 surface-to-air missile batteries to its air base in the Assad-controlled Syrian region of Latakia.
“Let me remind the so-called American ‘strategists’: The Russian military bases in Latakia and Tartus are covered by S-400 and S-300 air defense systems, the range of which may come as a surprise to unidentified flying objects.” ~ Russian Defense Ministry
The Obama administration is preparing to launch military airstrikes in Syria to prevent the Syrian Arab Army from taking Aleppo and to punish Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad for his war crimes.
Russia claims the United States is backing terrorists and that the U.S. has already been doing airstrikes and it was the U.S. that bombed the hospital.
The United States is claiming Russia wants political control over Syria and the oil pipe lines that run through it and that it was Russia that bombed the hospital.
Truth is, probably both are right, we know wars are fought over oil and minerals and political gain and Syria is no different.
The Obama administration has been pushing for military involvement and Secretary of State John Kerry stated, “”I’ve argued for the use of force. I’m the guy who stood up and announced that we’re going to attack Assad for the use of weapons.”
It appears that a peaceful resolution is simply not feasible and that Russia and the United States are steadfast in their military involvements.
With the deployment of Russian air defense systems, it now falls on the shoulders of the United States on how we will respond. The Obama administration has said, “we are ready to do whatever it takes to prevent Assad from taking Aleppo.”
